The religious community’s attention towards unification and cooperation will make a big difference in opening the future of unification

The first meeting of the regular council meeting between the Ministry of Unification and Christian officials was held (April 29)

On April 29, the Ministry of Unification, in the presence of Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho, held the first meeting between the Unification Ministry and Christian officials, scheduled to be held regularly in the future.

8 pastors from different religious bodies have attended the meeting to discuss the new unification dialogue and government policies.

In the meeting, Minister Kim conveyed that “it is more important than ever to practice small acts for unification in our daily lives,” especially at a time when the public’s awareness of unification is declining. He also stressed that prayers and ministries within the Christian community can lead to practical efforts for unification.

Furthermore, Minister Kim asked the religious community for their attention towards abductees, detainees, and prisoners of war, as well as warm consideration for North Korean defectors.

The religious community said that Korean churches have the responsibility to testify to the “invisible values” amidst weakening unification aspirations due to security threats and practical issues. They expressed their willingness to cooperate in raising awareness of unification, supporting the settlement of North Korean defectors, and spreading the realities of North Korea.

They also stated that they can take part in humanitarian initiatives, including providing nutritious food for infants in North Korea, to make South and North Korea open their hearts to each other and foster closer relations.
