On March 27, the Ministry of Unification invited families and related organizations of abductees, detainees, and unrepatriated prisoners of war (POW) and held a forget-me-nots badge delivery ceremony and a meeting.
The event was held to consolidate the people’s hope for the return of abductees, detainees, and POWs.
During the meeting, Unification Minister Kim stated, “President Yoon Suk Yeol wore the badge of forget-me-nots at yesterday’s cabinet meeting and expressed strong will to bring all abductees, detainees, and POWs back to the embrace of their families and the Republic of Korea.
Minister Kim added that the Ministry of Unification will do its utmost to resolve the issues of abductees, detainees, and POWs, as “protecting its people” is the government’s basic and grave duty.
Moreover, Minister Kim stressed that the issues of abductees, detainees, and POWs can be best resolved when “every member of our society pays close attention to the matter and provides active support all together.” He further said that the government will “exert every effort to ensure that the strong will of our people is clearly conveyed to North Korea and that the abductees, detainees, and POWs can return to their families as soon as possible.”
