Vice Minister Moon Seoung-hyun visits and consoles an elderly separated family member living alone ahead of the year-end season (December 22)
On December 22, Unification Vice Minister Moon Seoung-hyun visited Kim Boknyeo, a 96-year-old separated family member living alone originally from Hamgyeong-do, to console her pain from being separated from her family. He also expressed gratitude for her active engagement in the government’s project for addressing the issue of separated families so far.
Kim expressed her hope to see her younger siblings in North Korea at least once in her lifetime.
Vice Minister Moon deeply empathized with Kim’s heartbreaking story and stated, “The Unification Ministry will do its best to address the issue of separated families.”
