South Korea and Germany build consensus on strengthening cooperation to resolve Korean Peninsula issues

Minister Kim Yung Ho meets with members of the Korea-German Parliamentary Group (October 30)

On October 30, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho met with members of the Korea-German Parliamentary Group, including Heike Baehrens, Chairperson of the Group, to discuss Korean Peninsula issues and North Korea policies.

Minister Kim explained the Korean government’s policy directions on North Korea’s denuclearization, the promotion of human rights in North Korea, and unification preparation based on the liberal democratic order.

Moreover, celebrating the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, the minister expressed his hopes that South Korea and Germany will deepen mutual cooperation, and asked for the German Parliament’s cooperation and support for the vision of “a unified Korean Peninsula that is free and at peace.”

Mentioning their support for “Korean Peninsula unification,” as outlined in the resolution (October 19) on “Enhancing and Developing the South Korea-Germany Values Partnership” by the German Federal Parliament, the members of the Korea-German Parliamentary Group agreed on the Korean government’s unification policies.
