The Unification Ministry will closely cooperate with the church community when preparing for a free unification

Minister Kim Yung Ho pays a courtesy visit to Very Reverend Kim Sam-Whan of Myungsung Presbyterian Church (October 19)

On October 19, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho paid a courtesy visit to Very Reverend Kim Sam-Whan of Myungsung Presbyterian Church to exchange opinions on the direction of unification policy.

Minister Kim explained the Korean government’s efforts to verify the safety and repatriation of those detained in North Korea and resolve the issue of forced repatriation of North Korean defectors, and asked for the church community’s interest and cooperation.

Moreover, while highly appreciating the efforts of the Myungsung Presbyterian Church in the resettlement of North Korean defectors, the minister stated that the government will also make endeavors, such as expanding psychological counseling centers for North Korean defectors, to help them settle in our society.

Very Reverend Kim highlighted the necessity of a “Christian approach” when addressing inter-Korean relations and unification issues. He also stated that working together with the religious community, particularly when resolving issues such as “conflicts and division” and “resettlement of North Korean defectors,” would benefit the Ministry of Unification throughout the unification process and beyond.
