Korean Unification for Junior International Experts Program

 

 

Program Overview

 

The Korean Unification for Junior International Experts (KUJIE) is a special program launched by the Ministry of Unification of the Republic of Korea for foreign experts on Korean affairs and young scholars who are interested in inter-Korean affairs. The program is designed to provide a deeper understanding of the ROK government’s policy towards North Korea and its visions for a unified Korea. It also aims to facilitate networking and academic cooperation between Korean and international scholars.

 

 

 

Contents for Program

 

The KUJIE program provides a series of lectures on the developments in inter-Korean relations and the ROK government’s policy on various issues. The participants will also engage free discussions to find ways to promote cooperation among regional states and to garner international support for the preparation of Korean unification.

 

 

 

 

Topics for Lecture   Vision for Korean unification & the ROK’s unification policy The ROK’s unification diplomacy and international cooperation Security issues on the Korean peninsula Inter-Korean Dialogue, Exchanges and Cooperation Understanding South Korean culture Understanding North Korean society   Filed Tour: DMZ & Panmunjeom, Inter-Korean Transit Office, High school for North Korean refugees, Settlement support center for North Korean refugees   Culture Tour:  Korean historical and cultural sites and attractions   International Academic Conference :  All the participants of KUJIE program will be presenters or discussants in the International conference. * The International Conference will be co-hosted with the Institute for Far Eastern Studies Kyungnam University on July 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Eligibility

 

- Junior government officials or middle-level managers in private firms (preferably with a M.A. or higher degree)

- Junior scholars and researchers affiliated with universities, colleges or think thanks (preferably with a Ph. D)

- For Korean nationals, only those who have acquired permanent residency status in a foreign country or are serving in a regular faculty position at a university abroad

- This program is conducted in English, so applicants need to be fluent in English. 

 

 

 

Number of Invitation: 20~30 individuals

 

 

 

Program Duration: 10 days (from July 1 to July 10)

 

 

 

Terms and Details of Program Support

1. Airfare :  Economy-class round trip airfare (only provided to those who are based overseas prior to the start of this program.)

   * The airfare will be reimbursed based on the actual ticket price after arrival.

2. Accommodation, meals, domestic travel expenses for lectures and field tours

3. Honorarium for presenters and discussants in the international conference or during the lectures

Result Notification :

 

The result of your application will be notified individually in May.
