On December 14, the Ministry of Unification held 「2022 International Dialogue on Human Rights in North Korea」 to discuss key issues to improve human rights in North Korea and find practical ways of cooperation.

Unification Minister Kwon Youngse said that support for the improvement of the human rights of North Korea residents should be our duty and obligation as ethnic kin and a partner for future unification in order to make complete unity on the Korean peninsula and a unified Korea.

Moreover, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse pointed out that the Yoon Seok-yeol Administration would advance without stopping toward a unified Korea, where both South and North Korea enjoy a happy life under the universal values of human beings, liberty, democracy, and human rights. He also emphasized that the Ministry of Unification would provide a practical foundation for a Human Rights Policy toward North Korea to advance inter-Korean relations and unity in society and prepare for the future unification of Korea as well as strengthen solidarity with the international community while urging North Korea to improve the human rights of North Koreans to align with international norms on human rights.
